Arcot Lutheran Church – Bishop Election

Rev R D Vijayakumar has been elected as 6th Bishop of Arcot Lutheran Church. His term as Bishop will be from 2009-2014. The election took place on 18th May 2009 and he will assume his responsibility on 24th May 2009. Rev Vijayakumar had served as Treasurer for three terms in the Board of Arcot Lutheran Church.The Rt Rev R J Gideon has stepped down due to health reasons.
Mr T Richard Baskaran and Rev D Jayakaran has also been elected as Secretary and Treasurer of the Church Board.
The Bishop-elect Rev Vijayakumar has resolved to plant more churches in the villages and to empower Dalits youths and women in rural areas. (ALC)
