Rev. Dr. Zirajukic Kemung, Principal of Martin Luther Seminary, was honored by the International Biography Center of Cambridge, England, being named International Man of the Year for the year 2000-2001. This award is made to only a select few individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievements which stand out in the international community.
Dr. Kemung graduated from Martin Luther Seminary in 1976 and entered Luther Seminary in Adelaide, South Australia in 1978. After serving in the Lutheran church, and teaching at Martin Luther seminary, he went on and completed a 6-year Doctorate study in Augustana Hochschule University in Germany in 1996, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He then pursued farther study, being awarded a scholarship to go to Wartburg Theological Seminary in the United States where he graduated as a Master of Sacred Theology. In September, 1999, Dr. Kemung was also nominated to the Society of Mission Scientists and Scholars of Germany.
Sanang Zazoring, former editor for "The New Guinea Lutheran", has resigned his position and entered the theological school at Martin Luther Seminary. He plans to re-enter the field of communication after graduation, and is now involved in seminary news releases and newsletter, "Martus." He says that concern about the shortage of pastors in his region led him to make his decision to enter the ministry. Pastors in Papua New Guinea are sometimes restricted by language and former tribal fighting or feuding.
