The Africa's first Lutheran denomination was established by American missionary since 1860. The Lutheran Church in Liberia, West Africa became the door way for Lutheranism on the continent of Africa. During April 23-28, the Church celebrated 150 years of service to God's people. This celebration brought together both international and local Partners. Rev Dr Noko, Outgoing LWF/DMD General Secretary was the keynote speaker for the anniversary service on the theme: "We Come This Far By Faith"..

The Rt Rev Dr Sumoward E Harris, as Bishop provide leadership to the Church with over 70,000 members. A few highlights on its achievements:

We can not say that the past 150 years was all rosy but there were and there are still some issues and challenges before us. However, in all we give thanks to our God for taking us through these difficult and challenging moments. Truly we come this far by faith, leaning and trusting on His unchanging grace and steadfast love to us.
