India: Religions Clash
Reactions to the Death of missionary Graham Stains
From a NCCI news release (Jan. 24):

gThe Christian community in India is deeply shocked at the ghastly murder of the Australian Dr. Graham Stewart Staines and his two sons Philip Staines and Timothy Staines at Keonjhar district late Friday night. We also note with deep concern the increasing attacks on the Christian community. We are afraid that our nation which is reputed for its spiritual heritage, values of peace is now going the way of many other countries where the fanatical forces rule by proxy. There is an urgent need to re-instill confidence in the minds of the minorities particularly of the Christian community.

The Australian Government on January 25 also demanded prompt justice for the murderers. Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer said in a statement, gMr Staines devoted his life to serving others and it is unconscionable that he and his sons should have been killed in this horrific way. The government expects that those responsible for the deaths of Mr Staines and his sons will be brought to justice promptly in accordance with Inda's constitutional and judicial processes.h
